Does Claude Text Cleaner Remove Word Joiners?

Yes. This browser cleaner deletes U+2060 WORD JOINER from pasted text without inserting a replacement. For A + U+2060 + B, its source rule produces AB: three code points become two, with one “Zero-width characters” removal. If the joiner was deliberately preventing a line break, keep the original for that use.

Try the browser cleaner

Labels reveal the character; the cleaner processes the actual U+2060 in pasted text.

Why might removal matter?

Unicode's line-breaking reference describes WORD JOINER as preventing a break at its position. Removing it removes that instruction; display after pasting depends on the destination and line width. The cleaner cannot tell whether a joiner was intentional or where pasted text came from.

A public English-language question asks whether U+2060 is suitable inside a word when trying to control wrapping. That discussion concerns Unicode use, not a test of this cleaner.

How should you review the result?

  1. Save a copy of the original text.
  2. Paste it into the browser cleaner, run Clean Text, and check “Zero-width characters” and the lengths.
  3. Compare the output in the destination at a narrow width. If no-break behavior is needed, restore the original or use the destination's formatting mechanism.
